What Is A*STARS
The A*STARS program offers an engaging range of activities focused on walking, cycling, scooting, and road safety—delivered with guidance and dedicated support for schools.
Our aim is to support schools in promoting safer, healthier lifestyles for all.
The A*STARS program combines road safety, health education, and sustainable travel into an enriched learning experience. Designed for all educational settings, it supports children’s development from early years through to young adulthood, fostering lifelong awareness and well-being.

- Ensures that schools have access to road safety, sustainable travel, parking enforcement and other associated council traffic management and engineering services.
- Offers a tailor made package of road safety and sustainable travel measures designed to suit an individual school’s needs.
- Offers free resources, training and support.
- Raises awareness of road safety issues in and around school.
- Provides opportunities to increase levels of physical activity.
- Uses a dedicated A*STARS website to support and deliver the programme.

The A*STARS Pathway
The A*STARS programme offers interventions and initiatives from birth across all stages of a child’s educational life using three customised pathways.
Intermediate
Nursery 0-11 Years
The intermediate path has 3 tiers: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Schools earn a level annually based on achievements and active travel.
Higher
11-16 Years
The A*Stars Programme comprises of various initiatives which help to create a package to suit your school needs.
Advanced
College
A*Stars Advanced partners with post-16 schools, promoting sustainable travel and healthier lifestyles in schools.
