Walking often during lockdown is one of the easiest ways to help improve mental health, relieve stress and keep us active.
Walks should be with people from your own household or within your bubble.
Walking for children is great because:
-It’s fun and interesting – children get to notice things along the way
-It’s healthy – walking is great for the body including the heart, lungs and bones
-It makes you feel good – the exercise makes childrern feel calmer and happier and it improves concentration, making it easier to focus
-It promotes independence and freedom – children can make more decisions about their journey than they can in the car. They can choose to stop and look at something along the way and they can start to make decisions about road safety. For older children, walking independently offers some time to themselves.
